Eldorado Gold is guiding for roughly 40% gold production growth in 2027 versus 2025 as two new mines ramp up. The Motley Fool's scoring system rates the stock favorably, but heavy spending and project overruns weigh on its cash flow.

Eldorado Gold's Skouries mine in Greece produced its first concentrate on September 8 and is targeting commercial production this quarter. Management is guiding for roughly 40% gold production growth in 2027 versus 2025 once Skouries reaches steady state.

Two projects reach production together

Meanwhile, the C$3.8 billion Foran Mining acquisition closed in April, and the McIlvenna Bay copper-zinc mine in Saskatchewan poured first copper concentrate in June. Commercial production there is also expected imminently, according to The Motley Fool.

In mid-October, the European Commission granted Skouries strategic-project status, which eases future permitting and financing. A stockpile of more than 4.6 million tonnes of above-reserve-grade ore covers over seven months of plant feed.

Revenue and margins climb

Eldorado operates gold, silver, lead and zinc mines across Turkey, Canada, Greece and Romania. Its revenue jumped 40% year over year in fiscal 2025, and operating margins reached 41%. As of October 23, 2026, the stock trades at $31.67 and has posted a 1-year return of 26%.

The Motley Fool's Hidden Gems system assigns the company a Superscore of 80 out of 100.

Spending and overruns hold the score back

However, aggressive spending on projects like Skouries resulted in negative free cash flow of $195 million in fiscal 2025. Skouries also carried a $155 million overrun.

The stock trades at a trailing price-to-sales ratio of 2.94, which the article says leaves little margin for error if commodity prices cool or production targets slip. Third-quarter results are due within days.
