Eni has started operations at a new gas processing facility in Egypt's Western Desert, part of its Meleiha Phase 2 project. The plant can process up to 100 million standard cubic feet of gas daily and is meant to raise supply for Egypt's domestic market.
Eni started operations at a new gas processing facility in Egypt's Western Desert as part of its Meleiha Phase 2 project, the Italian state-controlled energy company said Tuesday. The facility adds processing capacity for natural gas in the country.
The company began start-up activities for a new gas hub within the Merged Meleiha concession. The hub can process up to 100 million standard cubic feet of gas daily.
Eni said the project will connect new production to Egypt's existing gas infrastructure. It will also increase gas supply for the domestic market, according to the company.
The launch builds on Eni's position in the country. The company produced approximately 242 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in Egypt on an equity basis in 2025, making it Egypt's largest energy producer.
