Fifteen mining operators, ASIC manufacturers and pools have committed to building integrations for Tether's open-source Mining Development Kit. Tether released version 0.11 at the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano and targets a stable 1.0 by the end of 2026.
Tether's Mining Development Kit now has 15 industry backers. On October 24, 2026, the stablecoin issuer announced that mining operators, ASIC manufacturers and mining pools committed to building and maintaining integrations with the MDK.
The group covers the main parts of the mining business. Operators running farms, firms building ASIC chips and machines, and pools that aggregate hashpower all signed on to what Tether calls MDK Workers.
What the kit contains
However, the MDK is an open-source framework that Tether describes as a way to make mining infrastructure interoperable and to support the next generation of AI-powered automation. The kit bundles a JavaScript SDK, a set of React UI components and a central orchestration kernel.
Tether already runs its own software on top of it. Its QVAC mining agent operates on the MDK, which the company presents as an early example of AI systems interacting across different mining setups.
Version 1.0 is still ahead
The project is young. Tether launched the MDK on April 27, 2026, a couple of months after it open-sourced MiningOS in February 2026.
Then came the latest milestone. At the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano, held October 23-24, 2026, Tether released version 0.11 of the kit, and it is targeting a stable version 1.0 by the end of 2026.
MiningOS laid groundwork as an operating layer, and the MDK builds on it by giving developers a toolkit to plug into it. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has said the MDK will drive the shift toward autonomous agents in mining operations.
